(Gluten Free, Sugar Free, Vegan Option)
Little cute crackers - the perfect snack for kids to both eat and make!
Crackers in general are super easy to make, I love how Mark Bittman talks about them in his books. To turn a wheat cracker recipe into a GF one, often you just need to replace the flour with some good GF all purpose flour - these recipes are very forgiving.
With these 'Goldfish' crackers, I first made them with wheat and butter, then I went gluten free and vegan with them, but have found the best combination for us is gluten free and butter... lots of butter!
They keep in the freezer well - so feel free to make a double batch and freeze some.

Ingredients
- 1 Cup Gluten free flour (Bob's All Purpose GF Flour)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt (less if your cheese is very salty)
- 1/2-1 tsp onion powder if you have it (or garlic powder or other spices or herbs - don't be afraid to experiment)
- 1/2 tsp pepper (ground very fine)
- 2 Tbsp nutritional yeast (or a bit more)
- 1/4 Cup of 'not' milk (almond, soy, hemp, etc...)
- 3 Tbsp olive or coconut oil
- 1 Cup shredded cheddar
- 4 Tbsp butter or more (our best batch was with loads of butter)
Directions
- Preheat oven - 190 C / 375 F
- Put the dry ingredients in a food processor with an S blade and and mix
- Slowly add the wet ingredients and mix well - add a bit more if seems to dry
- Place dough on a rolling surface and roll thin and flat with a rolling pin
- Use small 'shaped' cookie cutters - we found heart, fish, car, rabbit, star, dog
- Place on a baking tray with parchment/baking paper on it
- Bake around 15-20 minutes, time will vary based on your oven
